A newborn photo session is a beautiful way to preserve memories of your first days with your baby within gorgeous portraits that you’ll be able to enjoy more and more as your child grows with each passing year. But a newborn photo session doesn’t feel complete if we don’t create portraits of your little one with the people who mean the most to them: you, their adoring parents. What should you wear for newborn portraits with your baby?
Finding the perfect portrait wardrobe is stressful for many parents-to-be, especially for a mom giving birth because you don’t know what will fit and look best on your postpartum body. So here’s a relief for you: you don’t need to figure it out yourself! With Jaimié Birtel Photography, I’ll meet with you to plan your session, and that includes browsing your closet with you and helping you pick out your outfit for the photos.

While I work with my clients hands-on to choose their wardrobe, here are a few tips and guidelines I suggest using if you’d like to start gathering some ideas:
Go for neutrals - this makes it easy to get a nice, clean look with your family together, and we can talk about the best neutrals for your portraits’ color palette during your consultation
Don’t forget about my client closet - I have several casual dresses that are postpartum-friendly and are perfect for a newborn session…but if you prefer glam, you’re welcome to wear my more extravagant gowns, too!
When in doubt, choose a new black or white shirt - your baby is the star of the session but you at least want a clean-cut and unwrinkled look
