What to Wear for Your Boudoir Photography Session
For me and for many of my clients, the most fun part of planning a boudoir photo session is picking out outfits. Who doesn’t love finding or picking out clothes that make them feel incredible? At my Seattle area photo studio, I have an abundant client closet packed with many different styles and sizes so you don’t actually have to bring any items to your session. But a lot of my clients do enjoy bringing some options of their own too, so here are some ideas for what to bring for your boudoir photo shoot.
Fun Lingerie
Lingerie is the classic choice for boudoir photography, of course. When you’re picking out lingerie for your shoot, remember that it’s not necessarily about showing as much skin as possible or being as sultry as possible. The goal is to choose lingerie that makes you feel strong and sexy, whatever that may be.
Oversized Items
You might be surprised by how stunning an oversized sweater or oversized t-shirt can be! These are great for fun and flirty looks. A particular favorite is an oversized men’s button-down shirt. They look fantastic on camera and they’re incredibly versatile while also pairing well with lacy lingerie.
Kimono or Robe
Kimonos and robes are great for between shots but they also look great on camera! A silky robe is always a great choice, and these pair perfectly with beautiful lingerie as well.
Your Favorite Jeans
Most women don’t think of this when they’re picturing a boudoir photo session but your favorite jeans could be the perfect addition to your photo shoot wardrobe. We all have that pair of jeans in our closet that makes our butt look spectacular, and pairing these with a sexy bra or other lingerie pieces can create amazing portraits.
Fabulous Footwear
Every woman knows how the right shoes can make or break an outfit, and they can be an outstanding part of your boudoir photo shoot too. Heels are a popular choice and so are knee-high or over-the-knee boots.
Spicy Accessories or Props
Accessories are a girl’s best friend, and that’s true in your boudoir photo shoot too! Lacy stockings are always a great option, and long gloves can be a sexy addition too. You can also bring accessories or props that are meaningful to you and your story, like your wedding veil, an athletic jersey, or your beau’s work uniform.
